The Emperor’s Blessing
(Prologue)

Among the common man, no Imperial Family is as beloved as
the Miya. They are the Emperor’s diplomats, his swift messengers, bringers of
peace. They also carry a unique tradition – the Emperor’s Blessing.
Each year the Miya family sets aside a portion of its
great wealth to offer help to those in need. This gift is freely given, in the
name of the Emperor, to improve the conditions of those who have been stricken
by war, poverty, or disaster. In the past, the Emperor’s Blessing has been used
to repair the ravages of the Clan War, to restore the fallen Badger Clan, to
restore hope when hope is lost.
The winner of this tournament will be allowed to
determine what use the next Emperor’s Blessing will be applied. The winner may
choose to have the Blessing benefit his own clan, or to give the gift to
another. A character from the winning faction will make powerful allies within
the Miya, and influence the Blessing’s fate in the storyline. The Blessing will
then appear in as yet undetermined card form, as an effect that benefits both
the winner of this tournament and the recipient.
